The Philadelphia 76ers got the 2008-2009 preseason underway as they battled the NBA World Champions Boston Celtics. Elton Brand made his Sixers debut going 21 minutes, scoring 11 points and 4 rebounds. The young guys for the Sixers, Thaddeus Young, now the starting small forward and the potent six man Lou Williams combined for 48 of the Sixers 98 points. William led the charge late to secure the win for the Sixers and finished with 27 points off the bench. Rookie Marreese Speights was solid off the bench scoring 8 points and grabbed 2 boards. Late pickup Theo Ratliff played 12 minutes but went scoreless. Donyell Marshall did not play.The next preseason game for the Sixers will be Friday night against the New York Knicks. According to a medical update on Sixers.com, Jason Smith will undergo surgery on his injured left knee today. Smith who injured the knee during summer league play looks to be out for the 2008-2009 season. The surgery will be done in New Your City. Team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy is scheduled to observe the surgery. The injury to Smith opens up some playing time for recently acquired Donyell Marshall and rookie Marreese Speights.

Sixers head coach Maurice Cheeks received a contract extension in principle believed to be for an additional year added from his existing extension. The deal really didn't come as a surprise and Cheeks already anticipated a move like this may be forthcoming. It is rumored that the deal could be in the 2.5 million dollar range. The terms of the deal was not disclosed by the Sixers which is typically their policy. The Sixers add more experience to the bench signing free agent Donyell Marshall. The contract is believed to be for $1,262,275, the veterans' minimum for players with at least 10 seasons of experience in the NBA, with a portion of the salary coming from a league-wide pool. Marshall wanted to come home and play for his home town team. The Sixers had targeted Marshall for weeks in the hopes of adding another perimeter shooter to the fold. The Sixers are expected to add another big man to the fold in veteran Theo Ratliff. According to a source familiar with the situation, the 6-foot-10 Ratliff has accepted a one-year contract for the veterans' minimum of $1.4 million. Ratliff played for the Sixers from 1997-2001. The Sixers finally got one of their key pieces resigned. Andre Iguodala, a restricted free agent has agreed to terms to resign with the Philadelphia 76ers for a reported 6 years, 80 million dollars. The official announcement is expected today around 3 3p.m. EST. Andre Iguodala averaged 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.1 steals last season. Despite not playing well in the postseason last season, Iguodala was able to get the deal he has been coveting for some time. It is believed that he would have been willing to play for the $3.8 million, one-year qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next year if the Sixers didn't meet his asking price. The Sixers now have their nucleus in place and look to make a strong impact in the Eastern Conference. The good thing about this deal, although they overpaid for Iguodala is that he is only 24 years old. Iguodala must show an improved perimeter game since he is projected to be the starting shooting guard for the Sixers.

Sixers big man Jason Smith torn his left ACL in a NBA camp in Las Vegas. Sixers GM & President Ed Stefanski noted that Smith was not injured by contact. The Sixers are wrapping up a deal to re-sign Louis Wiliiams that may be in the range of 25-27 million. Williams broke out last season to produce his best output as a Sixer. The Sixers pulled off a major signing by getting career 20 point, 10 rebound stud Elton Brand. Brand a two time All Star looks to solidify a huge gap the Sixers had at the power forward spot. He will also become the Sixers best player immediately. Brand looks to help out restricted free agent Andre Iguodala with the scoring load if he resigns with the Sixers. Does the addition of Brand makes the Sixers one of the better teams in the East? You would have to think so simply because of what they were able to accomplish last year, the East isn't the West loaded with great teams and the fact that they played a good veteran Pistons team in the playoffs tough, there is a feeling of optimism that hovers in Philadelphia. Obviously there are some concerns about Brand's health but hypothetically speaking if he remains healthy throughout the year, the Sixers have a very good starting five that can compete and have a chance to win every night. The bench is solid with Louis Williams, Reggie Evans and Willie Green. The Sixers can go at least 8 deep. A shooter in the lineup would help open the floor and make teams pay for doubling Brand. Ed Stefanski noted that it was something they wanted to add but also indicated that their current players on the rosters were working to improve in that area. With only a 1.1 million exception, it will be difficult to find a sharp shooter. Veteran Brent Barry is still unsigned. It has been reported that the Sixers are now in the mix to acquire the services of Elton Brand. Sources has indicated that the Sixers are still actively involved in the current hunt. The Sixers are now looked at as imposing a serious threat to the L.A. Clippers who was looking to re-sign Brand to play along with Baron Davis who verbally agreed on a deal with the Clippers. The Sixers are confident that they can free up some room in their salary cap. That would only happen if they can move swingman Rodney Carney & veteran Calvin Booth. The Philadelphia 76ers now can look into potential players that they may be interested in to add to the current core that made a surprising playoff appearance last season. The biggest need the Sixers have is a power forward that can post and score in the low block. The Sixers will take a look at Atlanta's Josh Smith who is currently a restricted free agent. Although Smith isn't the prototypical power forward, his ability to rebound, block shots and hit the three could prove to be a valuable asset. Smith is also only 22 years old and would fit well in the youth movement the Sixers have with a good amount of young players on their roster. Smith also has good size at 6'9" 235 lbs. He is extremely athletic and versatile. He could definitely fit in nicely with the Sixers run-in-gun style. Another possibility could be the Clippers Elton Brand. Brand surprisingly opted out of his contract and added himself to the list of free agents. He is a proven veteran that is a 20 point, 10 rebound machine. Brand is coming off Achilles' tendon surgery after missing 74 games and there is some concern as to how he will bounce back. He did play in the last eight games of the season and averaged 17.6 points and 8 rebounds. The Sixers will look at adding some type of impact player to continue to build on last season's success.

The Sixers are still active with workouts as the draft quickly approaches next week. Anderson the best of the crop is currently projected as a late first round pick. The idea was simple for the Pistons, give the ball to Rip Hamilton and jump on the young Sixers quickly. The Pistons did just that as they raced to a 18 point lead after the first. Clearly a tone setter, the rest of the way proved to be too much for the 76ers to overcome as the Pistons aggressiveness overtook the Sixers at home. The backcourt of Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton combined for 44 points. Tayshaun Prince had 12 points and 7 rebounds. The Sixers again lacked strong offensive punch as Andre Iguodala finished with 16 points. He averaged only 13.2 points and shot 33% from the field. Andre Miller had another bad shooting night going 4-16 from the field and only scoring 11 points. Miller also scored below his regular season scoring average and assist in this series. The Sixers needed their best two players to be what they were in the regular season. Unfortunately they both feel short and the Sixers will now go into an important offseason trying to figure out what pieces are needed to add to this developing roster. Andre Iguodala will be a restricted free agent so if another team offers Iguodala a contract, the Sixers will be able to match it. Obviously Andre Iguodala did not help his status by having a subpar playoff series. Another consistent offensive weapon is needed in order for the Sixers to be able to produce consistently night in and night out. The game that Andre Iguodala finally gets back on track offensively, the rest of the Sixers except for Louis Williams didn't answer the call in a big Game 5. Despite playing on the road, the Sixers from the start made things very difficult with bad offense and a rare bad shooting night from usually consistent Andre Miller. The Sixers were down quickly by 14 points after the first and never really recovered to give the Pistons a run for their money. The starters for the Pistons played probably their best game of the series as a unit. Chauncey Billups was fantastic scoring 21 points and dishing off 12 assist. Rasheed Wallace, the Pistons best player in this series finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Rip Hamilton scored 20 points and Tayshaun Prince added 17. Andre Iguodala game returned and he had a team high 21 points. Lou Williams off the bench got 16 points. Andre Miller who struggled going 5-17 from the field finished with 13 points. The new mohawk hairstyle of Samuel Dalembert didn't seem to help as he was ineffective scoring 4 points and 6 rebounds. Game 6 is do or die for the Sixers. They will need to feed off the hometown crowd and gain some early momentum as the Pistons will look to close the door on the Sixers fantastic, unpredictable season. The Pistons responded when their backs looked to be against the wall. The Sixers started this one out strong and raced to a double digit lead at half time. Unfortunately it was a much different story in the third quarter as the Pistons dominated the third quarter scorching the Sixers for 34 points while the Sixers were only able to produce 16 points. The pivotal third quarter was the deciding factor that got the Pistons back in the series. For the Pistons, Rasheed Wallace rose to the occassion again scoring 20 points and grabbed 10 boards. Rip Hamilton found his touch after an awful start offensively finishing with 18 points. Five Pistons scored in double figures. For the Sixers, Andre Iguodala continues to struggle registering 10 points. Rookie Thaddeus Young was the high man for the Sixers scoring 15 points. Samuel Dalembert scored 12 points and 12 rebounds. In Game 2, it looked like the Pistons were back to their dominance as they rolled over the Sixers in impressive fashion. The Sixers in Game 3 gave the world notice that they are not here just to show up but they are here to win. The Sixers did just that by thoroughly outplaying the Pistons. Samuel Dalembert was the catalyst, exploding with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Andre Miller was also very good getting 21 points and 6 rebounds. Despite the continual struggles of Andre Iguodala, the Sixers have been playing some good team ball and getting key contributions from their bench, most notably Louis Williams and Reggie Evans. The Pistons only had two guys show up in Game 3 as Rip Hamilton had 23 points and Tayshaun Prince finished with 18 points. Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess each only had 2 points and Chauncey Billups had 11 points. The Sixers decided to double team Wallace and it was effective. The crowd at the Wachovia Center was in white to represent the White out weekend the Sixers are doing. It was great to see the fans supporting the young and dangerous Sixers. The Pistons went back to a more balanced attack that overwhelmed the Sixers as Detroit cruised to an easy playoff victory. Rasheed Wallace set the tone early and finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Rip Hamilton scored 20 points, got 7 rebounds and 7 assist. For the Sixers, Andre Igoudala has been horrible thus far in the postseason as he scored only 4 points and got 4 assist. The Bobcats were looking to end the season on a strong note at the expense of the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers were looking to stop a 3 game losing streak and finish with a .500 record. The Bobcats came to play despite being eliminated from playoff contention. Jason Richardson proved to be too much for the Sixers as he dropped 29 points. The Sixers were dominated in the second quarter which opened up the game for the Bobcats. The Bobcats had 5 players in double figures. The second quarter was a different story as the Wizards responded with 34 points to get the game back and have a 57-54 lead at halftime. The Sixers knew that this game was crucial in the very tight Eastern Conference. After losing two straight, the Sixers responded against a New Jersey Nets team that needed to win games to make a push for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. The game was tight in the first half as both the Sixers and Nets were knotted at 57-57 at the half. The Sixers pushed their way through in the third and got some separation which ultimately helped the Sixers to hold on for the victory. It took five quarters to do it but the Philadelphia 76ers was able to overcome a struggling Miami Heat team that has recorded only nine wins on the season. Despite the record, the Heat came to play and Dwyane Wade lit up the Sixers for 33 points. The Sixers had an answer for D-Wade offensive output as Andre Iguodala and Andre Miller each scored 24 points. The Sixers extended the Heat losing streak to 11. The Sixers rallied in overtime to finally get pass the Heat. Suddenly the Sixers are gaining ground and now are neck and neck with the New Jersey Nets in the Atlantic division. Next up for the Sixers will be the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night as they will attempt to avenge an earlier 108-106 loss to the Magic. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced that current head coach Maurice Cheeks came to an agreement in principle to retain the services of Maurice Cheeks for another years. Cheeks is currently in the last year of his contract. The move allows Cheeks to continue to assist in the development process of the young Sixers. As Sixers coach, Cheeks has a 97-122 record. "Sixers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski said that after evaluating the organization, he felt Cheeks had done an excellent job of developing the younger players on the roster and putting the team in a position to succeed."

The Sixers wrapped up a perfect home stand as the red hot Sixers take a five game winning streak into the All Star break. The Sixers have continued to play some of their best basketball in this stretch and now are looking at the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers got a very strong game from Andre Iguodala who scored 28 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished off 8 assist. Samuel Dalembert finished with a double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The Sixers had five players score in double figures. For the Grizzlies, Hakim Warrick and Rudy Gay had 23 points. Former Villanova star Kyle Lowry finished with 15 points and 6 assist. The Grizzlies are in a similar situation with the Sixers as they now are emphasizing a youth movement but have struggled this season. The Sixers will get some rest and have off until next Tuesday night as they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road. Game time is 8:00 p.m. EST.

The Sixers managed to run off a 12-1 spurt late to help keep the Mavericks at bay. The Mavericks did hot shoot the ball well from the field only shooting 35 percent. They held Western Conference All Star Dirk Nowitzki to 4-15 from the field. Andre Miller again led the way for the Sixers finishing with 21 points, 7 assist and 8 rebounds. His play has been a big reason why the Sixers are currently rolling. Andre Iguodala had 14 points and Willie Green recorded 12 points. The Mavericks, despite their offensive struggles got 17 points from Josh Howard and only 15 points for Dirk Nowitzki. Sixers point guard Andre Miller was named Eastern Conference player of the week in the periond of 2/4/08 - 2/10/08. Miller helped lead the Sixers to a 3-1 record and posted 19.5 points, 9 assist and 4.5 rebounds. This is Miller's third player of the week award in his career. Miller has shot a scorching 49 percent from the field this season and has been a big reason why the Sixers are currently in the playoff hunt. Miller currently holds the second longest consecutive game streak among active players. Only San Antonio's Bruce Bowen has played in more games. Congratulations to Andre Miller who has been a great leader for the young and rising Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sixers had five players score in double figures. The Clippers were led by Corey Maggette who had 26 points. Impressive rookie Al Thornton recorded a double double finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Sixers received great production from their young core who was in the game late contributing for the Sixers. Andre Iguodala finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assist. Thaddeus Young who is really beginning to emerge had 17 points and 9 rebounds. Andre Miller had 11 points and 14 assist. The Sixers got strong bench production from Louis Williams who finished with 11 points. Rodney Carney had his best game of the season as he finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds. For the Wizards, Deshawn Stevenson led all Wizards scorers with 19 points. He was 5-10 from three point land. Antawn Jamison got a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. He struggled for the most part going 6-23 from the field. The Wizards committed several turnovers late that contributed to their loss. The Sixers got off to a strong start thanks to Andre Miller who was very aggressive offensively. Miller exploited Rajon Rondo with his size and really put pressure on the Celtics defense, one of the best in the league. The Sixers were able to hold a 5 point lead at the half. The third quarter Boston begin to show some life and started hitting shots. The Celtics were able to sustain an offensive flow the rest of the way and defeated the Sixers by 10. Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. Kevin Garnett scored a team high 22 points. Stefanski is a Philly native who comes from the New Jersey Nets where he served as their General Manager since 2004. He also served in many other roles in the New Jersey Nets organization. Stefanski was a former 10 round pick of the Sixers in 1976. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, class of 1976. Stefanski is known as a excellent talent evaluator and an accomplished executive. Things were looking good after the first quarter but the second and third quarter was a completely different story. The Wizards rung up 36 & 38 points in the second and third to get some nice breathing room to easily beat the Sixers. The Wizards shot a staggering 57.8% from the field. Even without All-Star Gilbert Arenas, the Wizards offense proved to be too much for the Sixers lackluster defense to handle. For the Wizard, Andray Blatche took over off to bench to finish with a game high 24 points. He also had 8 rebounds in just 29 minutes. The Wizard had a total of six players in double figures in scoring. The only bright spot for the Sixers was Louis Williams. Williams continues to shine offensively and led the Sixers with 25 points off the bench. The starters for the Sixers did not play well at all. It was a crazy and unpredictable win for the Sixers especially after the dismal first half the Sixers registered being down by 18 points at half time. Then comes the surge in the third and fourth quarter led by young and rapidly improving Louis Williams. Williams was the man and then some as he helped the Sixers rally from a huge deficit to secure a memorable come from behind victory. Despite the Bulls attempted to overcome a fast Sixers start, the Sixers dominated the third quarter and also outscored the Bulls in the forth to secure the double digit victory. Andre Miller led all scores with 25 points. Andre Iguodala had a double double scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds. Samuel Dalembert also recorded a double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The starters for the Sixers were very effective offensively. For the Bulls, Ben Gordon scored 25 points and Tyrus Thomas added 21 points and 12 rebounds, one of his best games as a Bull. The Sixers will open up their first home game of the season against Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets.

Despite the Raptors bursting out to a huge 22 point lead, the Sixers made a tremendous comeback to get the game to within one point late in the fourth, but key buckets from the Raptors and costly Sixers turnovers didn't allow for the Sixers to ever get a lead. The Raptors lead by T.J. Ford 14 points and 12 assist help catapult the Raptors to victory. Second year man Andrea Bargnani scored 20 points, 3-4 for threes. Chris Bosh finished with 16 points and 4 rebounds. The Raptors also got strong contributions off the bench with Jose Calderon scoring 14 points. For the Sixers, Andre Iguodala after a slow first half, led all scores with 23 points and also grabbed 8 rebounds. New starting power forward Reggie Evans was impressive grabbing a game high 15 rebounds and contributed 6 points. Evans was very active inside and sparked the Sixers comeback. Kyle Korver had it going on from deep scoring 20 points off the bench. Andre Miller continues to impress with his great point guard play finished with 15 points and 6 assist. Rookie Jason Smith played 17 minutes and scored 4 points and 4 rebounds. He also played well defensively, registering a block shot and was very active in the low post. Willie Green was the starting shooting guard and scored 12 points. Rodney Carney scored 7 points off the bench. Louis Williams played 15 minutes off the bench and scored 6 points. Samuel Dalembert was strong defensively with 4 blocks but got into some foul trouble. The Sixers obviously need to defend the perimeter better and get better at switching and knowing their defensive assignments. There were quite a few mix-ups on the defensive end. For the first game, the effort was very good, they can't allow teams to build up big leads in order to have success. Next up will be the Chicago Bulls Friday night on the road.

Herbert Hill underwent surgery on a torn meniscus in his left knee. Dr. James Andrews performed the procedure in Birmingham, Ala. Doctors say Hill will return in about 4 to 6 weeks. The 6-10, 240 product from Providence has been a pleasant surprise for the Sixers. They would love to see Hill develop as it would help the Sixers strengthen their frontcourt.

The Knicks where without the services of Jerome James, Quentin Richardson & Renaldo Balkman. The Sixers have only had 1 win this preseason against an undermanned Boston Celtic team. The Philadelphia 76ers released Derrick Byars, the 42nd pick in the past NBA 2007 draft. Byars has been suffering from injuries and also faced the likelihood that he would not make the 15 man roster. His agents, Bill Duffy & Mike Conley Sr. asked the Sixers to release him early so he would get an opportunity to pursue playing pro ball overseas. The Celtics played without Kevin Garnett & Paul Pierce but Ray Allen scored 16 points to lead the Celtics. The Sixers jumped out to a double digit lead at the end of the first quarter and played consistently offensively through the entire game. Six Sixers reached double figures in scoring.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Aaron McKie could have accepted the assistant coaching position weeks ago but due to possibly being a piece in a trade that would have help the Los Angeles Lakers acquire Shawn Marion from the Phoenix Suns, the official word was delayed. McKie was a part of the big run the Sixers had in 2001 when they reach the NBA Finals. McKie will probably be taken the place of soon to be former assistant coach Moses Malone. The new look Sixers led by budding start Andre Iguodala look to build off of last season's late success and hopefully carry it over to the 2007-2008 season. The Sixers added four draft picks over the summer and are now in an official youth movement. The Sixers were on the floor ready to go at 10:00 a.m. to start off a 3 hour morning session. Coach Cheeks was running defensive drills to get the Sixers back to square one. There were also 5-on-5 scrimmages late with the emphasis of trying to stop the ball. It appears that Coach Cheeks will be focusing on the defensive end this year. Injury Update Sammy Dalembert (left foot stress fracture), Shavlik Randolph (left ankle fracture and dislocation) and Thaddeus Young (right ankle sprain) all practiced today at different levels.

Starting center Samuel Dalembert suffered a stress fracture in his foot. Dalembert is currently wearing a boot to protect himself from further injury. "Team Canada coach Leo Rautins confirmed that Dalembert, sworn in as a Canadian citizen just before the start of the pre-Olympic tournament, reported some discomfort and swelling in his foot after a 72-66 loss to Puerto Rico on Aug. 30. Veteran power forward Joe Smith signed a 2 year, 8 million deal with the Chicago Bulls leaving the Sixers with a slim amount of options at the power forward position. Billy King wanted to resign Smith but decided not to overpay the 13 year veteran. Smith played well for the Sixers after coming to Philadelphia as part of the Allen Iverson trade with Andre Miller. Smith provided a good veteran presence and actually was productive coming off the bench averaging 9 points and 6 rebounds. The Sixers options now at power forward is Steven Hunter, Shavlik Randolph, Louis Amundson & rookie Jason Smith. The Sixers may look to bring in a veteran big man before the season.

According to Philadelphia Daily News writer Phil Jasner, Billy King has shown interest in possibly signing free agent power forward Darko Milicic. The 7 footer played for the Orlando Magic last season and posted 8 points and 5 boards a game. His 2006 salary was at over 5 million and his agent is looking to get him a 9-10 million per year deal. Despite the great game from the ever maturing Williams, the Sixers let this one slip away late. Top pick Thaddeus Young scored 11 points. Billy King who attempted to move up in the draft to no avail used the #12 pick on Georgia Tech forward Thaddeus Young. Young who is 6'8" and looks to be a big part of the Sixers future should provide Andre Iguodala with some help on the offensive end. His potential upside intrigued the Sixers. With the 21st pick, the Sixers swapped with the Miami Heat to acquire big man Jason Smith from Colorado State. Smith has good size at 7'0", 240 lbs. and look to fill a need for the Sixers with a big presence down low. Smith averaged a double double with 16.8 points and 10.1 rebounds. The Sixers moved the 30th pick and sent it to Portland for the 42nd pick and cash considerations. The selection was Derrick Byars, the guard/forward product from Vanderbilt. Byars was the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. He has good size at 6'7" 230 lbs. and should be able to score at the pro level. The Sixers used pick # 38 to select Kyrylo Fesenko, a 7-foot center from the Ukraine. Fesenko was traded to Utah for the 55th pick, Providence's Herbert Hill, a 6-10 forward/center. Despite the Sixers not being able to get a sure fire pick, the young crop should provide the Sixers with some much needed depth. Billy King did indicate that he is not done yet in regards to making changes to the current roster. It should be interesting to see what Billy King will do next to help get the Sixers headed in the right direction.

Workouts will take place today at PCOM in which FSU big man Al Thornton will come in along with Villanova star Curtis Sumpter and Temple's Dustin Salisbery. The Sixers and the Celtics were gathered at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine yesterday for a workout with potential lottery pick Spencer Hawes. Hawes has not hired an agent yet so there is a possibility he will return to school. King was impressed with the big man skills. "He is very skilled for his age, his size". King was quoted in the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Sixers and the Celtics shared the workout to reduce some of the expenses the Hawes family will occur. NCAA rules says that an underclassman that withdraws from the draft has to reimburse the NBA teams for travel expenses. Hawes said that he has been studying San Antonio's big man Tim Duncan games and have tried to implement some of his moves in his game. The strengths of Hawes from what others have indicating is that he is good low post moves and passing well from the post. King said that he doesn't appear to be a long term project. The Sixers have a big need for front court help. We'll see if Spencer Hawes remains in the draft and where he ends up. From the sounds of things, Bily King likes what he saw. Hawes is projected to be a top 10 pick at this point.

Hawes averaged 14.9 points and 6.4 rebounds as a freshman for the Huskies. Hawes may not be available when the Sixers pick their first round pick at #12. Obviously the Sixers are in need of some size at the power positions. Joe Smith is a free agent, Randolph is coming back from a freak injury and Alan Henderson will probably not be resigned. Last night the NBA Draft Lottery took place and the Sixers remained at the #12 pick where they were originally slotted. Now they can focus in to determine what the Sixers can do to get the best player at that spot. The Sixers have some needs that they will be able to address in the draft. With 3 first round picks, the Sixers are looking to do whatever it takes to get some talented, young players into the fold. The Sixers will need to fill the power forward position with someone who can rebound and score in the low post. They also need a shooting guard who can be a perimeter threat and a good defender. It will be interesting to see which players are available at 12. Hopefully this draft is truly as deep as it is being projected to be. The mock drafts surely will start to begin since the positions have been set. Ed Snider confirmed that the Sixers allowed Larry Brown to meet with the Memphis Grizzles in regards to their vacant coaching position. it is unclear whether or not Larry brown still has the desire to coach again in the NBA. We'll see if Larry decides to give the coaching gig another shot after two rough endings with the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks.

The Sixers lost a tiebreaker with the Pacers on a coin toss and will now draft at #12 with their first round pick in the NBA 2007 draft. Both of the teams finished with the exact same record (35-47). The Sixers will need to bring all the good luck charms they can in hopes of moving up in the draft despite the low percentage they have. The lottery will take place on May 22nd. The top 3 picks will be determined and the rest of the lottery picks will proceed in inverse order.

Willie Green lit up the Raptors with a career high 37 points. It seemed like Willie Green could throw up a shot and it would somehow find its way in the basket. Green ended the season in spectacular fashion erupting with a potent offensive performance. Despite the Sixers playing with only 8 players available, they went into Toronto and bolstered a strong game. Andre Miller was also sensational scoring 29 points, getting 8 assist and 9 rebounds. Miller has been a valuable addition to the Sixers and looks to be a staple at the point guard position for the next few years. Joe Smith ended his season on a positive note scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds starting for the Sixers running 40 minutes. Smith has really made the most of his time with the Sixers and since he is a unrestricted free agent, he is sure to get some interest in the league. The Toronto Raptors came into the game trying to reach 48 wins, which would have been a franchise high for the Raptors. Luke Jackson torched the Sixers with 30 points. All Star Chris Bosh had 23 points and 9 boards. T.J. Ford was also good at the PG, scoring 15 points and dishing out 11 assist. The Sixers currently would get the 11th pick in the first round depending upon if they move up or not after the draft lottery takes place on May 22nd. The Sixers have 3 first round picks to either select new young talent or use as tools to improve the ball club. The Sixers future looks bright and some proper moves in the offseason can allow them to contend to get into the playoffs.

The Cavaliers orchestrated a well balance attack getting six players in double figures as they rode a 8 point half time lead to defeat the Sixers. Former Sixer Larry Hughes led the way for the Cavs scoring 22 points, dishing out 5 assists and getting 3 rebounds. He has moved to the point guard position for the Cavs where he has supplied some much needed offense. Lebron James finished with 18 points, 6 assist and 5 rebounds. The Sixers trailed throughout this one but got good games from Willie Green, who scored a game high 24 points. Joe Smith has been rock solid off the bench as he had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Louis Williams also produced off the bench getting 13 points and 7 assist. Samuel Dalembert got a double double with 13 points and 10 boards. The Sixers will wrap up the season tonight as they play the Toronto Raptors on the road. The Sixers are looking to end the season with a win against a good, playoff bound team. The Sixers went into this one minus Andre Iguodala, Kyle Korver and rookie Rodney Carney. With all that scoring not in the lineup, who was going to be the go-to-guy for the Sixers. Willie Green assumed the role and powered the Sixers with 26 points, 7 assist & 5 rebounds. Green has been known to have strong offensive outings when giving the minutes to play. Willie Green definitely wanted to perform well in his hometown of Detroit. Rookie Bobby Jones also got another start and scored 13 points. Louis Williams finally cooled off shooting 2-12 and only getting 6 points. Despite being eliminated from playoff contention, the Sixers are still playing hard as they have been playing good ball since the departure of Allen Iverson and Chris Webber. The Pistons starters played limited minutes as they played their reserves extensively. The Sixers dominated from the jump and was able to extend their lead each quarter. Tayshaun Prince lead the Pistons with 15 points playing only 23 minutes. The Sixers with 2 games to go on the schedule, will have their Fan Appreciation Night on Tuesday when they play the Cleveland Cavaliers. I'm certain there will not be a repeat of the debacle with last year's appreciation night. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.

Even with the return of Andre Iguodala and Kyle Korver, the Orlando Magic who are playing to secure a playoff spot came out strong in the first quarter catapulting to a double digit lead. From there on, the Sixers faced a tough hill battle they were unable to overcome as the Orlando Magic powered by Dwight Howard's 35 points and 11 rebounds sent the resurgent Sixers back down to earth. The Magic was able to outscore the Sixers in every quarter. Former St. Joesph's University star Jameer Nelson had 10 points and 5 rebounds. The Sixers got another strong performance from point guard Andre Miller who finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assist. Andre Iguodala returned to score 14 points but he had 7 turnovers. Kyle Korver scored 14 off the bench going 4-11 from the field. Louis Williams provided a nice spark off the bench once again getting 14 points. The Sixers with 3 games remaining in the season will look to get back into the winning side of things as they take on the Detroit Pistons tomorrow night on the road. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.

Once again the Sixers went into this one without their top two scorers Andre Iguodala and Kyle Korver. Once again role players and the reserves stepped up to help the Sixers secure another win. Steven Hunter was the man on this day scoring 20 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Louis Williams was also strong again off the bench scoring 18 points and getting 8 assist. Joe Smith is still giving the Sixers major production off the bench as he finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Andre Miller who is usually steady scored 19 points. The time that Louis Williams is receiving at the end of the season is valuable as the Sixers need to evaluate the backup point guard situation. The way that Williams has been playing is providing the Sixers some validation that they may have their man. Joe Smith is looking more and more like a resign that the Sixers should get done. His veteran presence along with Andre Miller and really help the Sixers in their development. For the Celtics, Ryan Gomes scored a game high 26 points for Boston. Former Villanova star Allen Ray scored 15 points and 3 assist. The Sixers will play the Orlando Magic Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at home.

Andre Iguodala will not make the trip to Boston tonight as the Sixers will take on the Boston Celtics. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Iguodala will go to see a back specialist to get checked out. It is not confirmed that Iguodala will missed the remainder of the season. Iguodala first injured his back in a game against the San Antonio Spurs on 12/16/06.

Newest Sixer Louis Amundson who was playing for the Colorado 14ers of the development league and a stint with the Utah Jazz and now the Sixers, received Rookie of the Year honors. He averaged 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. Hopefully Louis will be able to catch on with the Sixers and provide a presence down low.

The Sixers got the ball rolling in this one without the services of Andre Iguodala, Kyle Korver and Rodney Carney. The reserves for the Sixers decided it was the right time to step up and provide the Sixers with the spark they needed to overcome a Pacers team that is fighting for their lives to get the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers started off with a strong first quarter and lead by 9 points after the 1st. The Sixers would maintain the lead throughout the game and get a key win over the Pacers. Andre Millers was fantastic, scoring 19 points and dishing out 11 assist. The bigs for the Sixers also were very good as Samuel Dalembert scored 15 points and snatched 12 rebounds. Joe Smith, who has been sensational off the bench, scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Smith continues to provide the Sixers with quality minutes and have been very effective as the first big off the bench. Louis Williams got some extended playing time going 29 minutes and had his best game as a pro. He registered 18 points and 5 assist. You can see that Louis Williams game is starting to develop more and his confidence is rising. For the Pacers, Jermaine O'Neal had 21 points and 9 rebounds. Jeff Foster supplied some good production off the bench with 15 points and 9 rebounds. The lost hurt the playoff chances of the Pacers, who are currenly trying to catch the Orlando Magic who currently has the last spot in the East. The Sixers will travel to Boston tonight as they play the Celtics. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Kyle Korver will not be able to play tonight against the Indiana Pacers due to a small tendon tear in his right wrist. An MRI revealed the tear. Currently Korver is wearing a removable cast to protect the wrist. Rookie Rodney Carney will most likely get the bulk of Korver's minutes.

The Philadelphia 76ers came out with their headbands on as a sign of unity, unfortunately that was the only thing it did as the Sixers had a slow and rocky start as the Hawks built up a double digit lead in the third. The Sixers then responded with an explosive third quarter that got them back in the game. Tyronn Lue had a chance at the end of regulation for a last shot but it was an airball as time expired. Josh Smith got into a heated discussion with Coach Mike Woodson and was sent to the locker room. The Sixers jumped out on the Hawks early in OT and keep their lead to get the victory. Andre Iguodala scored 25 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assist. Samuel Dalembert had a double double with 16 points and 10 boards. Dalembert also had 3 block shots. Joe Smith was very effective off the bench scoring 18 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Rookie Rodney Carney who got extended minutes due to Kyle Korver not playing due to a sore wrist, had 13 points. Tyronn Lue lead the charge for the Hawks scoring 24 points, getting 8 rebounds and dishing out 9 assist. The Sixers will look to add another "W" to their record as they take on the Indiana Pacers Tuesday night. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

The Sixers hung tough in the first half holding a one point lead at the break. Suddenly the Raptors bite got a lot bigger as they exploded with a 28-15 advantage to open up a sizable lead that would propel the Raptors victorious over the Sixers. Chris Bosh did it all for the Raptors scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. A total of 6 players scored in double figures for the Raptors. The Raptors win their first ever division title. For the Sixers, Andre Iguodala finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds & 7 assist. Andre Miller recorded a double double with 10 points and 11 assist. The Sixers could not overcome the hot third quarter by the Raptors. At one point they hit 10 straight shots. The Sixers will look to rebound from this loss as they play another home game against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

After getting traded to the Utah Jazz mainly for luxury tax purposes, Alan Henderson resigned with the Sixers for the remainder of the season. Henderson did not play against the Knicks last night. Henderson will provide a much needed big body for the Sixers in practice and in games. Alan Henderson, clearly one of the older veterans to a young Sixers team is well liked and has been a good role model for the younger players.

Stephon Marbury was doing it all in the third quarter scoring 20 points for the Knicks but the Sixers took advantage as Marbury headed to the benched for a quick rest. The Sixers ran off a strong run after the Knicks got up by 9. The Sixers built up a 7 point lead with a minute left but a furious run by the Knicks got the lead down to 2 quickly at 90-88. Andre Miller hit a big bucket as time was running down in the shot clock. Korver missed two free throw late that could have extended the lead but a last second shot by Marbury was partially blocked by Andre Iguodala. Andre Iguodala had 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assist for the Sixers. Kyle Korver had 17 points off the bench. Stephon Marbury lead all scores with 30 points, 28 of them coming in the second half. Marbury also had 7 rebounds and 6 assist. Eddy Curry recorded a double double for the Knicks, scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Rookie Renaldo Balkman was strong off the bench for the Knicks scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. The Sixers have the Toronto Raptors up next at home on Friday night. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

That decisive quarter the Sixers were unable to recover and the Nets held on to get the close victory. Andre Iguodala struggled in this one scoring 13 points. Andre Miller had a strong performance scoring 14 points, getting 12 assist and 7 rebounds. Joe Smith also provided a nice lift off the bench with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Vince Carter lead the way for the Nets with 19 points. The Nets currently hold the 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers are 5 games out of the 8th seed. Andre Iguodala once again provided a fantastic all around performance scoring 23 points, dishing 12 assist and grabbing 5 boards. Samuel Dalembert continues to improve as he got a double double in this contest with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Willie Green did not play due to a sore knee as Rodney Carney who replaced him in the lineup scored 7 points. Kyle Korver was smoking off the bench scoring a game high 26 points and shooting 4-5 from three point land. The Celtic got 20 points from Al Jefferson and 16 points from former St. Joesph's University star Delonte West. The Sixers are 21-21 since 1/1/07. The Sixers also have had a strong March going 9-5. The Celtic continues to struggle as they are set to have one of the worst records in the league. They have been playing without All Star Paul Pierce for a good portion of the season. The Sixers will look to get to the 30 win mark as they take on the New Jersey Nets tonight on the road. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

All Star Caron Butler returned to the Wizards and was a key component in helping the Washington Wizards defeat the Philadelphia 76ers last night at the Wachovia Center. DeShawn Stevenson also torched the Sixers with 28 points. His regular season average is only 10 points a game. Despite being down 10 after the third and a Wizard's lead of 17 points in the fourth, the Sixers ran off 35 points in the fourth quarter to get within striking distance. Andre Iguodala contested three missed at the end of regulation. Samuel Dalembert had a strong game scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds for the Sixers. Andre Miller was steady with 16 points and 7 assist. For the Wizards, Caron Butler had 21 points and Gilbert Arenas finished with 20 points. From the way things were looking after the first quarter, you would have thought that the one game winning streak the Sixers had was going to come to an end. The Sixers got down by 17 points early but managed to rally back in the second half to overcome the deficit and get their second straight victory. Andre Iguodala returned and provided a strong outing dropping 19 points, getting 8 rebounds and dishing out 6 assist. Kyle Korver provided some instant offense scoring 17 points off the bench. Joe Smith also was productive from the bench scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. The Heat who had success early with getting points off transition cool off significantly in the second half as the Sixers were able to run on the Heat. Jason Williams lead the Heat with 21 points and 6 assist. Shaquille O'Neal added 18 points and 6 rebounds for the Heat. Dwayne Wade is still out with the dislocated shoulder injury. The Sixer will play the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night on the road. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

Andre Miller lead the way with 19 points and 9 assist. Willie Green also had 18 points for the Sixers. The Sixers jump on the Bobcats and dominated the first quarter building a 14 point lead. The Sixers avoided the slow start that plagued them the previous two games. The Sixers continued to charge getting up by 21 at halftime and held on the rest of the way in the second half. Gerald Wallace had 21 points and 7 boards for the Bobcats. Rookie Rodney Carney got the start in place of Andre Iguodala and scored 11 points in a 30 minute run. The Sixers will play the Miami Heat tonight. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Tayshaun Prince scored 30 points as the Sixers had no answer in trying to stop him. Despite the absence of Chauncey Billups, the Pistons were able to have there way with what looks to be a weary and battered Sixers team. Chris Webber, in his first game playing against his former team had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assist and really wasn't a factor in the game. Willie Green had 20 points for the Sixers. Andre Iguodala struggled again scoring only 6 points. Samuel Dalembert recorded a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Joe Smith had a game high 17 rebounds off the bench. The Sixers desperately need Andre Iguodala to step up his offensive output to have a chance in games. The defense also has been extremely poor and they will need to refocus in order to turn things back around. The Sixers next opponent will be the Charlotte Bobcats at home on Friday night. The Sixers found themselves down by 17 after the first quarter and never recovered as the Rockets burst the Sixers inflated bubble with a staggering 50 point win. The Sixers were horrible and were dominated every quarter. Yao Ming had 24 points and 10 boards for the Rockets. Tracy McGrady had 21 points, 8 assist and 4 rebounds. The superstar tandem provided a TKO like basketball display to the Sixers who never had a chance in this contest. Louis Williams got some extended playing time for the Sixers playing 22 minutes and scoring 12 points and 2 assists. Most of the starters for the Sixers did not play their normal minutes. Andre Iguodala had a awful game going 2-10 and only scoring 6 points. The Sixers would love to get past this devastating loss and move on to the next game. The Sixers had control of this game throughout 3 quarters but the Jazz used a strong fourth quarter to almost rally to beat the Sixers. The Sixers needed Kyle Korver game winning jumper with 5.1 seconds left to seal the deal and send the Jazz, one of the west best home with a loss. On the game winning play, Samuel Dalembert set a vicious pick on Gordon Giricek that sent him flying to the floor. Giricek appeared injured on the play but was ok. Dalembert had a good offensive game scoring 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The Jazz Deron Williams gave the Sixers fits in the fourth quarter and recorded 18 points and 16 assists for the game. Mehmet Okur had a double double for the Jazz scoring 15 and grabbing 10 boards. Former Sixers Matt Harpring had 14 points and 9 rebounds off the bench. The Sixers will play the Houston Rockets tomorrow night at home. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.

The Sixers had control of this game for the most part but allowed the Chicago Bulls in the fourth quarter to outscore them 26-15 and narrowly escaped away with a win at the Wachovia Center. Kirk Hinrich hit an open jump shot with 26.7 seconds left to give the Bulls a one point lead. Adrian Griffin missed two free throws but on the second attempt by Griffin, the ball was tipped around and then rebounded by Miller at around 5.9 seconds. The Sixers called timeout as Miller was racing down the court but the officials indicated that no additional time should be added back on the clock. So the Sixers winded up with only 2.1 seconds in which Iguodala received the inbound pass and had to put up a desperation three that clanked the side of the rim. The Sixers clearly should have gotten more time on the clock. In hindsight, Miller probably may have gotten a better look if the timeout wasn't called but the Sixers was instructed to call a timeout after the second free throw. Sixers had an opportunity to win this game but didn't play well in the fourth quarter. Andre Iguodala had 19 points for the Sixers. Willie Green had 16 points and 2 assist. The Bulls were lead by Luol Deng who scored 20 points. The Sixers loss despite shooting 50% compared to the Bulls 43%. The Sixers will play the Utah Jazz Friday night at home. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

The Hawks came out like gangbusters and never looked back as they took control early and took a double digit lead into half time. The Sixers struggled offensively and didn't get much from anyone other that Andre Iguodala who scored 18 points. Even Iguodala was only 4-11 from the field but was perfect from the line going 9-9. Josh Smith of the Hawks was an absolute beast scoring 26 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. He has had a good season for the Hawks thus far. He is averaging 15 points and 8 rebounds this season. Zaza Pachulia also recorded a double double for the Hawks chipping in 15 points and 10 boards. The Sixers play back-to-back games as they take on the Chicago Bulls tonight at home. The game time is 7:00 p.m. The Sixers are looking to restart another winning streak as they try to climb into the playoff hunt in the Eastern Conference.

No Jermaine O'Neal and Jamal Tinsely for the Pacers in this one. The Sixers took full advantage of the short handed Pacers to secure a tough road win at Indiana. Andre Iguodala lead the charge again with a game high 25 points. He also had 5 assist and 4 rebounds. Willie Green provided some offensive support dropping 18 points, 4 boards and 2 assist. The Sixers had 5 players in double figures and continue to get good bench production from Kyle Korver and Joe Smith. Andre Miller continues to be steady at the point guard position scoring 16 points and 8 assist. He has really been a factor in the Sixers resurgence this season along with the rapid development of Andre Iguodala. Troy Murphy and Danny Granger had 18 apiece to lead the Pacers who had 4 players in double figures. The Sixers were down 52-49 at halftime and came out in the third quarter and took the lead for good. The Sixers will play the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. on the road. All Star Joe Johnson will not be playing for the Hawks.

The Sixers once again took care of business at home and fended off Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. Andre Iguodala once again delivered scoring a game high 31 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. The Sixers dominated in the second half outscoring the Lakers 57-35. Andre Miller also had one of his best offensive outputs as a Sixers scoring 23 points and dishing out 8 assist. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 30 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assist. Samuel Dalembert continues to rebound the ball getting 16 boards along with 12 points. The Sixers are suddenly in the hunt for playoff contention in the woeful Eastern Conference.

The Sixers jumped on the Sonics early getting up by 10 points after the first and hung on the rest of the way keeping it close to eventually secure their fifth straight win. Andre Iguodala was stellar, recording his third triple-double of the season with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assist. Andre Miller also chipped in with 17 points. Samuel Dalembert had a game high 20 rebounds. Ray Allen had 29 points to lead the Sonics who shot only 38% from the field and never got into a good offensive flow. The Sixers continue to get confidence as the season is looking promising after such a horrid start. Some people may want the Sixers to tank the season to have a chance at one of the first two picks in the draft. Clearly they are growing and developing as a unit. The Sixers will play the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night at home. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

The Sixers continue their streak with a big win over the New Jersey Nets last night. The Sixers got down 12 after the first and did not play well at all but suddenly resurged with a big second quarter & third quarter to registered the double digit win. Three Sixers scored 20 plus points. Andre Iguodala had 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assist. Kyle Korver and Willie Green had 20 points. Samuel Dalembert and Joe Smith combined for 21 rebounds. Smith has really provided a nice spark off the bench lately. Jason Kidd added another triple double to his resume posting 11 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assist. Vince Carter had an awful gaming scoring only 9 points, going 4-20 from the field. The Nets did not have Richard Jefferson or Nenad Krstic. The Sixers will play the Seattle Sonics Wednesday at home. The Sixers got into an offensive shootout with the Grizzles that went an extra quarter but finally got settled in OT. Kyle Korver and Andre Iguodala scored 27 points to lead the way. The Sixers held off the Grizzles despite Pau Gasol producing a monster game with 31 points and 13 rebounds. The Sixers extended their winning streak to 3 games with this win. The Sixers have been unbeaten since Willie Green became a starter for the injured Rodney Carney. Green had 16 points in the game. Joe Smith continues to provide a big lift off the bench as he supplied the Sixers with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Mo Cheeks has been giving him the minutes and he has surely produced. The Sixers will take on the New Jersey Nets on Sunday. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.

The Phoenix Suns came into the game defeating all Eastern Conference foes on the road and was looking to make history by attempting to beat the Sixers and be the only team in NBA history to win all of their road games in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers had a different idea as Willie Green lead the charge early scoring 20 points in a 31 minute run. Willie Green got the start in place of injured rookie Rodney Carney (shoulder) and delivered with a big first quarter. His play lead to a 12 point lead after the first quarter. Andre Iguodala was also stellar particularly late in the game hitting a huge 3 to extend the lead and eventually come away with the win. Iguodala had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assist. Samuel Dalembert grabbed 12 rebounds for the Sixers. Dalembert had a tough assignment in checking Amare Stoudemire who lead the way for the Suns with 31 points and 14 rebounds. Shawn Marion and Boris Diaw did not play due to injury. The Suns never lead even though they tied the game late at 84-84. The Sixers maintained their composure and made big plays down the stretch. Next up for the Sixers will be the Memphis Grizzles at home. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

After a tough road swing, the Sixers needed some home cooking to get back on the winning side of things. Samuel Dalembert produced a monster effort in the low block scoring 20 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Andre Iguodala got back to his usual impressive all around numbers scoring 22 points, getting 8 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists. The Sixers coming out of half time begin to play better on the offensive and defensive end. The Sixers used a 12-5 fourth quarter run late to help them snap their losing streak. Kevin Martin lead all scores with 23 points for the Sacramento Kings. The Sixers are 11-15 at home. Former Sixer John Salmoms returned to play in Philadelphia for the first time since signing with the Kings. He went scoreless in a 17 minute run. The Sixers started off well leading by 5 after the first quarter. The Bucks eventually begin to take control starting in the second quarter and extending their lead even further in the second half. Andre Iguodala bounced back from his current slump and scored 22 points. Willie Green supplied the offense off the bench scoring 11 points. Steven Hunter was very ineffective in his play, scoring 0 points and getting only 3 rebounds. Andre Iguodala continues to struggle after the All Star break scoring only 10 points. He has been inconsistently offensively and whenever your best player isn't giving you at least his average, your team is going to struggle. Kyle Korver continues to be hot offensively. He had a game high 21 points off the bench. The Bobcat had 5 players in double figures in which three had 19 points. Emeka Okafor had 16 points along with 16 rebounds and was really a force inside. Kyle Korver feet must be feeling pretty good now. Korver dropped 6 threes in route to a game high 31 points as he lead the way offensively to defeat the Knicks at the Wachovia Center last night in a 20 point win. Steven Hunter returning to the starting lineup after injuring his finger contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds. The Sixer got off to a slow start early but then got a nice spark from Willie Green off the bench. He finished with 8 points in a 10 minute run which included a spectacular two hand jam off a steal. Andre Iguodala struggled all night with his shot going 1-9 and getting 10 points. Andre Miller, who help keep the Sixers in the game early had 19 points. The only good things the Knicks had going on was Eddy Curry who scored 22 points and posed some problems for the Sixers scoring at will down low. Dalembert was a non factor for most of the game due to foul trouble. The Sixers will head out to Charlotte to play the Bobcat on Friday to play the Bobcats. Gametime is at 7:00 p.m.

Steven Hunter who dislocated his finger and was expected to be out 6 to 8 weeks went to get a second opinion in regards to needing surgery to repair the injured finger. Fortunately Dr. Carson announced by the Sixers said that he would need to wear an extension splint and may only miss the first game after the All Star break. He is required to wear the extension splint up to 8 weeks off the court. In the meantime Joe Smith will be asked to step up and fill the void until Hunter returns. The Sixers are happy that they will get Hunter back sooner than they originally anticipated.

The Sixers despite being up by a point at halftime, could not hold on and struggled somewhat in the second half as the Wizards chipped away and eventually won the game. Andre Iguodala had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Samuel Dalembert added 11 points and a game high 17 rebounds in which the Sixers had a huge advantage on the boards. Gilbert Arenas as of late has been struggling with his shot only going 8-26 from the field. He was 1-9 from 3 point land. He did score a game high 22 points. Joe Smith filled in nicely for the injured Stephen Hunter with 12 points and 9 rebounds in a 37 minute run. It was obvious that Hunters presence was missed and shortened the big man rotation. The Sixers will enjoy some time off during the All Star break and will play the New York Knicks next Wednesday.

The Mavs dominated the first half of play in particular in the second quarter when the Mavs had a 17 point advantage in scoring. The Sixers played about even the rest of the way but the damage was already done by the Mavs and the Sixers never recovered. All star Dirk Nowitzki scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. All five starters scored in double figures for the Mavs. Andre Iguodala tried his best contributing 21 points and 9 rebounds. Kyle Korver provided a strong scoring punch off the bench with 18 points. Samuel Dalembert had another double digit rebounding game with 12 rebounds. The Sixers will look to snap the losing streak against the Wizards on Valentine's Day. The Sixers played the Clippers close throughout the game but couldn't contain it in the 4th quarter as the Clippers closed the game out with a 33-25 advantage in the fourth. The Sixers did not execute well at all making tons of mistakes that proved costly in the end. Sam Cassell despite having flu like symptoms, torched the Sixers for 22 points and Cuttino Mobley also had 17 points for the Clippers. Andre Iguodala scored 22 points for the Sixers. He also had 7 assist. Samuel Dalembert was also effective scoring 14 points and grabbing a game high 15 rebounds. The Sixers will look to get back in the win column and as they take on the mighty west squad of the Dallas Mavericks.

Andre Iguodala has been the man ever since Allen Iverson was traded to the Denver Nuggets. He has embraced the role of go-to-guy and now is beginning to flourish with a more traditional point guard running the offense. The Sixers start off on a 29-16 first quarter burst to get the Sixers an early double digit lead that will help them the rest of the game to hold off the Bobcats. Iguodala had a game high 27 points with Andre Miller continuing to lead the surprising Sixers to another victory. Samuel Dalembert grabbed 13 rebounds for the Sixers and is starting to show some consistency as a rebounder. Okafur and Wallace had 16 points and 8 rebounds each for the Bobcats. The Sixers blocked 9 shot in the game setting a strong defensive tone. The Sixer will play the Los Angeles Clippers Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

Andre Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert responded brilliantly in the Sixers hard fought OT win last night at the Wachovia Center. Iguodala scored 23 points, had 15 assists along with 7 boards to lead the Sixers to victory. Samuel Dalembert stat line was also impressive scoring 14 points, grabbing 17 rebounds and 4 blocks. The Sixer played a strong second half to tie the game up at regulation. Iguodala hit a huge three late to seal the deal in OT. Vince Carter had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Nets. The Nets have been having difficulty closing games out this season, and this game was no exception. The Sixers will play the Charlotte Bobcats at home on Wednesday night. Gametime is at 7:00 p.m.

Despite a career game from Andre Iguodala last night, it was not enough to stop the Warriors as Al Harrington converted on a layup with 1.2 seconds left to knock off the Sixers at home. Baron Davis was outstanding for the Warriors scoring 25 points and dishing out 12 assist. Davis backcourt mate Monta Ellis had 21 in the game. Andre Miller help carry the offense for the Sixers dropping 19 points. The Sixers after giving up 33 points in the third quarter responded with a strong fourth quarter but Harrington's shot eliminated any chance for the Sixers to squeak out with a win. The Sixers didn't let the bad loss against the Rockets carry over. The Sixers opened up the game in the 2nd quarter and cruised to a double digit win sweeping the season series against the Hornets. Andre Iguodala was fantastic scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assist. The bigs, Dalembert, Hunter & Smith combined for 37 rebounds and was dominated in the paint. Chris Paul returned for the Hornets but was not very effective scoring only 9 points and getting 2 assists. The Sixers snapped the 3 game winning streak the Hornets had coming in. The Sixers will begin a long home stretch beginning tomorrow night against the Golden State Warriors. Tip off is at 7:00 p.m.

The Houston Rockets defense made this game quickly become a route. A 29-13 second quarter advantage opened the game up and the Rockets had no problems with the Sixers. Tracy McGrady has 25 points in three quarters and sat out the fourth. At one point, the Rockets were up by 41 points. Samuel Dalembert had another solid game posting 13 points and 11 rebounds. What a way to bounce back from a tough loss last night. The Sixers dominated from beginning to end to get a convincing win over the young Atlanta Hawks. Samuel Dalembert was a beast on the floor scoring 19 points, getting 10 rebounds and 7 block shots! It's a game you would love to see Sammy deliver more often. Andre Miller was also exceptional again dropping 19 points, getting 8 assist and 7 rebounds. Andre Iguodala gets another 20 plus night scoring 24 points to lead all scorers. The Hawks got good production out of Josh Childress and he recorded 20 points and 10 boards. The Sixers will look to make it two in a row on Monday against Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets. Gametime is at 8:30 p.m.

The Sixers started the game off blazing scoring 38 points in the first quarter and then the Cavaliers dominated the last three quarters to defeat the Sixers and stop their current winning streak. Drew Gooden and Donyell Marshall combined for 38 points and 19 rebounds and carried the Cavaliers last night to victory. Andre Miller got his first triple-double as a Sixers recording 12 points, 12 rebounds & 13 assist. Andre Iguodala also played well scoring 22 points to lead all Sixers in scoring. Rodney Carney continues to provide good minutes in place of William Green. He scored 14 point in a 34 minute run. The Sixers will look to return to the win column tonight at Atlanta. Gametime is 7:00 p.m.

Andre Iguodala became the go-to-guy for the Sixers down the stretch scoring 8 of his 34 points in the second overtime to help propel the Sixers past the Cavs. Samuel Dalembert had a very strong showing dropping 20 points and getting 10 boards and is emerging as a presence down low as of late. Lebron James scored 39 points for the Cavs. Rookie Rodney Carney also helped the Sixers cause scoring 18 points in his second start replacing Willie Green who was out due to injury. He was 3-3 from 3 point land and was consistent offensively. Andre Miller also followed up with another good game scoring 16 points and handing out 8 assist. The Sixers will play the Cavaliers again at home on Friday.

The Sixers got off to a fast start leading by 9 after the first quarter clicking on the offensive end. Kyle Korver provided a strong scoring punch with 25 off the bench. He was perfect from 3 point land and the free throw line. Andre Miller was sensational as the floor general getting his teammates involved and dishing off 11 assist and contributing offensively as well scoring 17 points with crucial buckets down the stretch. Andre Iguodala also returned with some offense, scoring 20 points. Willie Green did not play due to a sore knee. Rookie Rodney Carney started in place of Willie Green and scored 13 points. The Sixers are looking to have a strong second half of the season. Defensively the Sixers effort was much stronger in this game but did let up a little late in the 4th quarter, but they were able to hold on for the victory. The Sixers will play the Cavaliers in back-to-back games starting with a home game tonight.

The Spurs jumped out on the Sixers with a 30-15 first quarter and never looked back. Tim Duncan was his usual dominate self scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Brent Barry was deadly off the bench and from 3 point land hitting 5 of 8 threes and scoring a total of 23 points. Andre Iguodala led all Sixers in scoring with 20 points. Steven Hunter had a strong game scoring 10 points and getting a career high 15 rebounds. The Sixers have not faired well against the Western Conference as their record out west falls to 3-14. The Sixers will look to get a victory Tuesday at Cleveland.

The Sixers produced a great all around effort and hung on in overtime defeating the Miami Heat. Both Andre Miller and Andre Iguodala had 16 points and 9 assist. Sixers held on after blowing a 17 point lead. Kyle Korver had 13 off the bench. The Sixers almost loss their composure late and was robbed on a late call in regulation in which a ball went out of bounds on the Heat but it was called that the Sixers touched it last. The Sixers despite things not going their way late in the game, rose up in overtime and sealed the game. The Sixers will face the Spurs on Sunday.

Grizzles got off to a hot start early, jumping ahead 37-24 after the first quarter. The Sixers were trying to play catch up the rest of the game and never got close. Mike Miller shot down the Sixers scoring 30 points and distributing 7 assist and getting 5 rebounds. Grizzles rookie Rudy Gay dropped 23 points off the bench to lead a strong bench effort from their reserves. The Grizzles had 70 points by halftime. Kyle Korver got hot in the second half scoring 23 of his team high 30 points. Rodney Carney had 8 points off the bench in front of his hometown. Andre Iguodala struggled with foul trouble and only scored 4 points. The Sixers continue to have slow starts while playing poor defense. They will need to get off to faster starts in order to stay in games.

The Pistons looking for frontcourt help signed veteran Chris Webber in which they are hoping he can provide some needed production from the power forward/center position. It will be interesting to see how he will be used by coach Flip Saunders. The Pistons who are known for their defense and toughness have signed a guy that is more known as a finesse and outside player. Webber also has not look even a little bit explosive after his knee surgery. The Pistons should be able to cover up for Webber's deficiencies on the defensive end. I guess we will find out if he is a starter or not soon enough.

Despite his limitations, he is still one of the best passing big men in the league and can give you 20/10 nights once in awhile. If he can get some lift on his jump hooks and start knocking those down, he could give the Pistons a good inside presence. Out of all the teams, this may be the best place for C-Webb to flourish. Chris Bosh and Joey Graham combined for 45 points and quickly buried the Sixers with a game breaking 3rd quarter to seal the win for the Toronto Raptors. Andre Iguodala led all Sixers in scoring with 15 points. The reserves played most of the fourth quarter. Rookie Rodney Carney scored 11 points off the bench.

Dalembert has continued to be a force in the middle recording 12 points and 15 rebounds. The Bobcats held off the Sixers after building up a 17 point lead and making enough plays down the stretch to win by 6. Adam Morrison gave the Bobcats good production off the bench scoring 17 points. Sixers will look to improve their record on Monday against the Raptors at home.

Willie Green got the start last night in place of Rodney Carney and put on a show dropping 30 points going 13-19 shooting. It was his best game since his knee surgery. Dalembert continues to contribute scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. The Sixers exploded in the third quarter with 38 points, increasing the margin over the shorthanded Bucks. Earl Boykins made his Bucks debut scoring 11 points. Iguodala paired well with Green scoring 26 points, 6 assist & 6 boards. The Sixers got a much needed win and will look to start a winning streak when they go for 2 in a row against the Charlotte Bobcats tonight.

According to ESPN.com, Chris Webber has been waived by the Philadelphia 76ers. Webber who has been injured most of the season, reached a buyout agreement with the Sixers to part ways with the franchise. The move will help the Sixers avoid a luxury tax hit this season. Webber contract is still on the Sixers books so there is no free cap money to work with. Webber was scheduled to make a little over 20 million this season and 22 million plus the next.

After finalizing the buyout for C-Webb yesterday, the Sixers had a tough time stopping Eddy Curry and Stephon Marbury last night. Curry was impressive in the post scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds for the Knicks. Marbury was also huge offensively for the Knicks dropping in 24 points. The Knicks shot 53% from the field and 47% from 3 point land. The Sixers perimeter defense was not good and they gave up way too many threes and uncontested shots. They made a run late but it was not enough. Dalembert has had two good games for the Sixers. Since the Webber deal is done, the Sixers are definitely in rebuilding mode and the growing pains will come this season.

There was 3.3 seconds left in overtime. Garnett made sure it didn't go to a second overtime. Garnett hit a mid range jumper to seal the deal and allow the Timberwolves to pick up a tough win. Sixers played well throughout getting strong contributions from Andre Miller, Andre Iguodala and Kyle Korver. Iguodala missed a shot late and Randy Foye got the rebound which set up the game winner by Garnett.

The Jazz started off cold in the first half shooting only 34% percent from the field. But after that they quickly heated up going 20-38 in the second half. Boozer scored 22 of his 27 game high points in the second half. Former Sixer Matt Harping also was deadly, scoring 20, with 12 of them in the third. Deron Williams had 14 assist. The game started to really get away from the Sixers in the third quarter. They gave up too many easy uncontested shots in the second half. The Sixers are now 4-5 since the Allen Iverson trade and 2-4 on the current road trip in which they will wrap up Friday at Minnesota.

Admit it, you had to have a huge smile on your face the way the Sixers responded to the challenge. The players can try to downplay this one, but this game meant a lot to them. They wanted to prove to the world that the Sixers are still a team even without AI. The Sixers responded fearlessly and played spectacular at times to secure a big win over a former running mate. Iverson did drop 30 points and 9 assists, but they were not easy points as the Sixers did a good job of exploiting his size and weakness on the defensive end. He got tossed out of the game picking up his second technical foul in obvious frustration about losing to the Sixers. Korver was red hot again in scorching the Nuggets for 26 points. Andre Miller also delivered with a 17 point, 10 assist outing against his former team. The Sixers are playing .500 ball since the trade.

It's a game that you been waiting for from Andre Iguodala. Being aggressive offensively and becoming the go-to-guy that he now has to be. Iguodala played his best game as a pro leading the way for the Sixers with a career high of 32 points to snap their two game losing streak. Andre Miller also had his best game as a Sixer recording 25 points and 10 assist. The Sixers were able to hold off the Blazers down the stretch and pick up a much needed win. It was the second-most lopsided loss of the season for the 76ers, who shot 39.7 percent (29-of-73) from the floor and failed to hit a 3-pointer for the second time this season.

I knew that C-Webb wasn't the same player he was in Sacramento, but this season he has looked very old and depreciated. It's not that difficult to understand why his minutes have been limited this season. He just doesn't provide much of anything anymore. I did think that he could contribute offensively after coming off an almost 20 ppg-10 rpg stat season last year. I didn't expect his offensive output to fall so quickly. Currently he is only shooting 39 percent from the field. A horrible number especially for someone at the Power Forward position. He is also only averaging about 11 points a game.

That is about 9 points down from last season. He just doesn't seem to finish plays like he use to. I find it troubling the C-Webb is upset about his limited playing time. I understand being a competitor and wanting to play quality minutes but he has to wonder whether he can still help a team at this point of his career. Defensively he is a major liability. And now that the team doesn't have the offense of Allen Iverson, they really can't afford too many mishaps on the defensive end. Unless C-Webb begins to step it up and be consistent offensively, he better get used to playing 20-25 minutes. I was hoping that since the Iverson trade his production would increase. It looked like it did in the beginning but it is now back to what he was doing most of the season. Even his free throw percentage is down to 64%.

Initially I thought when we first got him in the trade that he could really help the Sixers resurge into a quality contender, but the deal has turned out to be a mistake by Billy King. I do give him credit for taking a shot, unfortunately it hasn't worked out. Here's hoping C-Webb looks at his game and begins to alter it so he can be effective again. Bad shooting and not enough production from the guys who should be supplying the offense caused the Sixers to get blowed out at Sacramento. Ron Artest was all over the floor and really disrupted what the Sixers wanted to do. Andre Miller had his worst shooting night missing 8 of his first 10 shots. He did finish with 14 points and 5 assists. Iguodala has started to cool down and has reverted back to taken alot less shots (6 shots) finishing with only 15 points.

The rookie Rodney Carney played well for the Sixers scoring 26 points and grabbing 8 boards. Former Sixer Matt Barnes has been playing well lately for the Warriors. He had 25 points on 8-9 shooting, 7 which were 3 pointers and added 8 boards. The perimeter defense must get better in order for the Sixers to stay in games.

Larry Brown who Billy King has been getting advice from may be returning to the Sixers in some type of role according to articles that are online. I would assume it would be on an advisor type role as I can't see Brown coaching again. Of course this is all speculation at the moment.

The games are getting more competitive, but at the end the Sixers seem still to come up short. The Pacers defeated the shorthanded Sixers 101-93. Iguodala & Korver lead all Sixer scorers with 20 points each.

O'Neal & Jackson of the Pacers was too much and too good down the stretch for the Sixers to hold on a get a much needed win.

The Allen Iverson trade saga has ended and now he will represent the Denver Nuggets. According to an associated press report, Iverson has been traded to the Denver Nuggets for Andre Miller, Joe Smith & two first round picks.

"Philadelphia 76ers superstar Allen Iverson, who has been on the trading block for almost a week, is the top vote-getter at his position in his conference in the first returns of fan balloting released by the league Thursday."

Iverson, who leads the NBA in scoring at 31.2 points per game, has missed Philadelphia's last four games. The seven-time All-Star has been inactive since 76ers chairman Ed Snider said Friday the team would grant his request for a trade.

Well the losing still continues and Allen Iverson hasn't been traded yet. The Sixers allow the 8-13 Boston Celtics to take over in the second half and surrender a 101-81 clunker. The team is obviously still getting use to not playing with "The Answer".

Ollie lead all scores with 14 points giving you a clear indication that other guys who are scorers did not produce. Webber was 4-17 which contributed to the Sixers offensive woes. Kyle Korver goes 1-10 and Iguodala just didn't shoot enough. Defensively, the Sixers gave up way to many layups. For a team that struggles offensively, they have to do a much better job on defense.
